This stretch of Yancy Street has seen better days, and the wear and tear after all those years is showing. For the entryways of each business, I wanted some sort of old, beat up tile, and I found some good examples online and printed them out. I cut the shape of the entryway and used Modpodge to glue it down.
I know some miniaturist purists would lay all those tiny tiles by hand, but I’ve never been that pure! For my purposes, the printed tiles will work just fine.
Soooo, that first bright red and dark gray paint job wasn’t doing it for me. I decided to repaint both buildings with a more muted color scheme and it already looks so much better.
I dirtied up the new paint job with a few passes of the airbrush, while also giving the sidewalk a bit of that age and filth. These buildings need to look old and grimy, since they aren’t in the best side of town. We’re making some progress now!
